Leslie Kuizema chronicled her experiences surrounding a stem cell transplant for leukemia. This website provided both casual and critical updates to family and friends, as it also evolved into a first-hand account shared with other leukemia patients and their families. On January 30, 2006, nearly three years after the transplant, Leslie succumbed to complications from the treatment. If you are a transplant patient or close to one, we hope, despite the ultimate outcome, that this accumulated narrative continues to provide some encouragement and connection to someone who went through a similar experience. We had four full years after diagnosis, occasionally falling into the lowest of lows, yet squeezed the best out of life at nearly every opportunity. Family, friends and perfect strangers supplied more love and support than we could have expected. We would like this site to serve as a memorial to Leslie's indomitable spirit. She never gave up.
